HPE StorageWorks 82E Dual Port Adapter

The HPE StorageWorks 82E is a dual-port Fibre Channel host bus adapter that installs in a PCI Express slot. It provides two LC optical ports for multi-mode fibre connections. The card operates at an 8 Gbit/s data transfer rate and weighs approximately 1.50 lb. Its plug-in form factor fits standard server expansion bays.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This adapter suits administrators adding redundant 8 Gbit/s Fibre Channel connectivity to HPE or compatible servers with available PCI Express slots. It is not appropriate for environments that require single-port connectivity or copper cabling. Buyers needing higher-speed fabric standards should evaluate other options.

Deciding specification: 8 Gbit/s data transfer rate

The 8 Gbit/s data transfer rate is the single figure that determines whether this card matches the fabric speed in your storage network. If the SAN runs at 8 Gbit/s, the adapter will operate at line rate. If the fabric runs at a different speed, the link will negotiate down or the card will not be compatible.
