Two-pack of MQ-2 modules detecting smoke, LPG, butane and hydrogen with digital and analogue outputs at 5 V
This pack contains two MQ-2 sensor modules designed to detect combustible gases including smoke, LPG, butane and hydrogen. Each module operates on a 5 V DC supply drawing 150 mA and provides both a TTL digital output and an analogue voltage output proportional to gas concentration. The sensors require roughly 20 seconds to warm up before readings stabilise.
These modules suit hobbyists and engineers building gas-leak alarms, ventilation triggers or air-quality monitors for indoor use. The analogue output allows threshold tuning while the digital pin gives a simple high-low signal for microcontroller interrupts. Buyers needing calibrated ppm accuracy, multi-gas selectivity or industrial certifications should look at professional instrumentation instead.
The key specification is the combined TTL digital and 0.1–4 V analogue interface that lets a single module drive both a microcontroller GPIO and an ADC channel. If your design only accepts I²C, SPI or a dedicated gas-sensor bus, these boards will not connect without extra circuitry.

Connect VCC to 5 V DC, GND to ground, then read the digital DO pin for a TTL 0/1 signal or the analogue AO pin for 0.1–0.3 V rising to about 4 V at maximum concentration. The step most people miss is allowing the sensor to warm up for around 20 s after power is applied before trusting any reading.
The tin-oxide sensing layer inside the module gradually loses sensitivity after long exposure to combustible gases such as LPG, butane or hydrogen, so the whole module is replaced when calibration can no longer bring readings back into range.
The internal heating wire that keeps the sensing element at temperature draws 150 mA at 5 V; during sustained use the module becomes warm, and if it gets hot rather than just warm the readings become unstable and the sensor must be power-cycled.
