Watertight Industrial Plug 5-15P

The Hubbell HBL14W47A is a straight-blade plug rated 15 A at 125 V AC with a NEMA 5-15P configuration. It accepts cable diameters from .375 in to .625 in and uses screw-terminal connections. The yellow housing is corrosion resistant and achieves an IP69K rating for high-pressure washdown environments. Industrial facilities and food-processing plants specify this plug where moisture and cleaning chemicals are constant.

Sustained Load Behaviour

The device carries a continuous 15 A single-phase load and a 1/2 hp motor rating without derating. Its grounded, polarized three-blade design maintains secure contact under vibration and thermal cycling. The screw terminals resist loosening during extended operation, while the watertight seal prevents ingress that could cause tracking or corrosion over time. Performance remains stable through repeated washdown cycles.

IP69K Rating Decides Fit

The IP69K rating is the single specification that determines whether this plug suits the application. It certifies protection against close-range high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. If the installation never sees washdown or submersion, a lower-rated plug will meet the electrical need at lower cost. Buyers who need only splash protection or dust sealing should select a different rating.

Questions about this item

Does the IP69K rating on the HBL14W47A mean it stays cool and quiet during continuous industrial use?

The IP69K rating confirms protection against high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns. This watertight plug has no moving parts, so it generates no noise or heat of its own during operation.

What cable diameter range must I already have to fit the screw terminals on this 5-15P plug?

The screw terminals accept cables from .375 in to .625 in maximum diameter. Ensure your cord falls within this range for a secure, watertight connection.

Will this grounded 15 A 125 V plug work safely with older equipment that only has a two-prong outlet?

This plug is a NEMA 5-15P with three blades including a ground pin. It requires a matching grounded receptacle; it cannot be used safely with an older two-prong ungrounded outlet.
