Locking Receptacle for 277V AC

The Hubbell HBL4750 is a 15 A locking receptacle rated for 277 V AC single-phase power. It uses a NEMA L7-15R configuration with two poles and three wires. The brown Valox housing and brass contacts suit commercial or industrial video installations that require a secure, polarized connection.

Flush-mount design with screw terminals

This non-flanged unit mounts flush in a single-gang opening and terminates conductors with standard screw terminals. The straight orientation keeps cables neat in tight enclosures. A steel housing meets NEMA 1 rating for indoor use, while the absence of a cover or shroud leaves the face accessible for frequent mating cycles.

Brass contacts hold rating under continuous load

Brass contact material maintains conductivity during sustained 15 A operation at 277 V AC. The locking mechanism resists vibration-induced disconnects common in permanent AV racks. Builders needing GFI protection, a weatherproof cover, or a different NEMA configuration should select an alternative device.

Questions about this item

What happens when the 15 A current rating is exceeded during continuous operation?

The locking receptacle is rated for 15 A at 277 V AC; sustained loads above this limit can cause overheating and trip upstream protection.

How much heat does the steel housing produce when the device runs at full load all day?

The steel housing and brass contacts dissipate heat passively; no active cooling is included, so temperature rise depends on enclosure ventilation.

Which NEMA plug configuration must I already own to mate with this L7-15R receptacle?

You need a matching NEMA L7-15P locking plug with 2 poles and 3 wires for a secure connection.
