Hubbell HBL5929 15 A 277 V Plug

The Hubbell HBL5929 is a straight-blade industrial plug rated for 15 A at 277 V AC. It uses a NEMA 7-15P configuration with three blades and two poles, and includes a grounding connection. The black Insulprene housing carries an IP20 rating and a UL 94 HB flammability rating.

Suited for single-phase 277 V equipment

This plug suits installers wiring single-phase 277 V loads up to 2 hp where a grounded straight-blade connection is specified. It is not for circuits requiring higher current, different voltage, locking blades, or a higher ingress-protection rating than IP20.

Verify cable diameter and terminal access

Confirm the cable outer diameter falls between 0.31 in and 0.43 in before ordering. Ensure the enclosure or wiring device provides room for screw-terminal connections and that the 277 V supply matches the NEMA 7-15P receptacle.

Questions about this item

What cable diameter range must I already have for the screw terminals to accept the conductors?

The plug accepts cables from .31 in to .43 in outer diameter; anything outside that range will not fit the screw terminals.

Will the NEMA 7-15P blades fit receptacles wired for older 277 V single-phase equipment?

Yes, the 7-15P configuration matches existing 277 V AC single-phase receptacles, so older equipment on the same circuit remains compatible.

How can I confirm the plug is correctly wired after tightening the screw terminals?

Verify continuity on each of the three blades and check that the housing shows no damage; the UL 94 HB rating and IP20 marking indicate the expected safety standards.
