Questions about this item

Will the brass contacts on this double connector need periodic cleaning or replacement?

The brass contacts are built into the gender-reversing body and are rated for the full 400 A capacity; no separate cleaning schedule or contact replacement interval is specified by Hubbell.

What is the first limit reached when this connector runs continuously at 400 A?

The 75 °C maximum operating temperature is the primary thermal limit; sustained 400 A loads must not raise the housing above that temperature.

How much heat does the thermoplastic elastomer housing produce during all-day operation at 600 V?

The housing material itself does not generate heat; temperature rise comes from current through the brass contacts and must stay within the -40 °C to 75 °C operating range.
