Hubbell IG2310 Isolated-Ground Receptacle

The Hubbell IG2310 is a 20 A, 125 V AC single-phase locking receptacle with an isolated ground that separates the grounding contact from the mounting strap to reduce electrical noise. It uses a NEMA L5-20R twist-lock configuration and accepts 16 to 8 AWG solid or stranded copper wire via screw terminals. Industrial electricians and facility managers specify it for equipment that requires a secure, noise-resistant connection.

Upgrade from Standard Non-Isolated Receptacles

This receptacle replaces standard locking outlets where ground-loop noise or vibration-related loosening causes intermittent faults. The isolated-ground construction and impact-resistant nylon housing justify the change when sensitive electronics share a circuit with heavy loads or when the mounting surface conducts stray currents. It is not for installations that lack a dedicated insulated ground conductor or that use a different NEMA pin configuration.

Flush-Mount Install with Back or Side Wiring

The device mounts flush with included screws and supports both back and side wiring methods for conductor routing flexibility. A dedicated insulated ground wire must be run to the isolated terminal; omitting it defeats the noise-reduction purpose. Common errors include terminating the ground on the strap instead of the isolated contact and failing to fully seat the twist-lock plug, which can leave the circuit open under load.
