RACO 1823 Compression Coupling

This RACO 1823 compression coupling joins unthreaded rigid metal conduit in straight runs. It is built for electricians and maintenance crews who need a code-compliant connection in commercial or industrial wiring systems. The steel body carries a zinc-plated finish and ships new in gray.

3/4 in Trade Size

The single specification that decides fit is the 3/4 in trade size, which must match the conduit exactly. It accepts IMC and RMC types with a threaded UNEF connection and is both CSA certified and UL listed for concrete-tight applications. No other diameter will seal correctly.

Threaded Installation with Clamp

Installation requires threading the coupling onto each conduit end and tightening the included clamp to lock the joint. The straight orientation keeps alignment simple, but cross-threading the UNEF threads or omitting the clamp are the common errors that leave the joint loose or non-compliant.

Questions about this item

What does the 3/4 in trade size mean when I install this coupling?

It matches 3/4 in IMC or RMC conduit so the compression connection fits the conduit outside diameter without threading.

How does the UNEF thread standard affect the connection?

The UNEF threads provide a straight, threaded joint that tightens the compression ring onto unthreaded rigid or intermediate metal conduit.

What physical space does the 1 1/2 in overall length and 1 9/32 in width require?

The coupling occupies 1 1/2 in along the conduit run and needs a 1 9/32 in square clearance for the body and clamp.
