RACO 232 Two-Gang Square Box
The RACO 232 is a UL Listed steel electrical box with a 30.3 cu in capacity and two-gang configuration. Its square profile and 2-1/8 in nominal depth suit surface or flush mounting in residential and light commercial wiring projects. Gray galvanized zinc finish resists corrosion in damp locations. The box accepts standard device plates and plaster rings for switches or receptacles.
Knockout Layout For Conduit Entry
Twelve 1/2 in side knockouts and eight 3/4 in side knockouts provide flexible conduit routing from multiple directions. Three 1/2 in and two 3/4 in back knockouts allow rear cable entry when stud access is limited. No internal clamps are included so installers must use appropriate bushings or connectors for each cable type. The knockout pattern supports both EMT and non-metallic sheath wiring methods.
Galvanized Steel Construction
The steel body with gray galvanized zinc coating withstands job-site handling and long-term exposure inside walls. Square corners align cleanly with stud bays and allow tight ganging of multiple boxes. Mounting ears accept standard box screws or nails for secure attachment to wood or metal framing. UL Listing confirms compliance with applicable safety standards for electrical enclosures.

Questions about this item
Will the 30.3 cu in capacity limit how many conductors I can install later?
The 30.3 cu in volume governs the maximum conductor fill under NEC rules; plan wire counts and device size so the total fill stays within that allowance.
What becomes the limiting factor when pulling multiple cables through the 12 side knockouts?
The 12 half-inch side knockouts set the practical entry limit; once all are used additional cables require conduit hubs or a larger box.
Does the galvanized steel box run hot when circuits carry continuous loads all day?
The steel enclosure dissipates heat passively; it adds no measurable temperature rise beyond the conductors themselves under normal continuous loading.
