18 cu in Galvanized Switch Box

The RACO 590 is a single-gang metallic box rated at 18 cubic inches. Its galvanized zinc construction suits residential or light-commercial wiring where a standard switch or receptacle enclosure is required.

Wiring Capacity Limits

The 18.0 cu. in. volume governs how many conductors and devices may be installed under code. Nine 1/2 in. knockouts restrict cable entry to that trade size, so larger conduit or bundled cables cannot be accommodated without a different box.

Gangable Mounting and Fire Rating

Gangable design allows multiple boxes to be joined for multi-device installations. Plaster ears support old-work mounting in finished walls, and the assembly is acceptable for use in 2-hour fire-rated walls when installed with appropriate fittings.
