Hubbell SHC1023CR Liquid Tight Connector

The Hubbell SHC1023CR is a straight liquid-tight cord connector built for electrical installations that require a secure, insulated entry point. Its nylon body and blue gland suit indoor or outdoor runs where moisture resistance is specified. Electricians and maintenance teams use it to terminate a single cord through a 1/2 inch MNPT box connection.

Blue gland colour code and nylon construction

The blue gland provides immediate visual identification of the 0.38 in to 0.50 in cord diameter range, reducing wiring errors on site. Nylon material resists corrosion and impact while the insulated design protects conductors. No external strain relief is fitted, so the connector relies on the gland compression alone for cable retention.

Cord diameter range 0.38 in to 0.50 in

This single specification decides whether the connector matches the cable being installed; cords outside that range will not seal correctly. The 1/2 inch MNPT thread and 1 1/2 in overall length are fixed, so verify both the cord size and the box opening before specifying this part.

Questions about this item

Will the nylon body or the blue gland need periodic replacement under normal conditions?

The nylon connector body and blue gland are single-piece moulded parts with no serviceable seals; they are replaced only if physical damage or cable-pullout occurs.

What cable-diameter limit is reached first when the connector is used continuously at its maximum range?

The cord-diameter range tops out at .50 in, so any cable approaching that size hits the gland’s sealing limit before the 1/2 in MNPT box thread becomes restrictive.

How much heat does the connector add when it carries current all day in a sealed enclosure?

The connector itself adds no measurable heat; it is an insulated pass-through with no conductive elements, so temperature rise depends entirely on the wire and load inside the enclosure.
