Cord Connector for Underground Use

The Hubbell UFC0003 is a straight liquid-tight cord connector designed for underground installations. Its aluminum body accepts a single cord with a diameter between .26 in and .78 in. The box connection uses a 3/4 in MNPT thread. It suits electricians and contractors running power or signal cables into enclosures below grade.

Sustained Environmental Performance

The aluminum construction resists corrosion during long-term burial and exposure to moisture. Without external strain relief, the connector relies on the internal gland to maintain a seal around the cord over time. The insulated design is absent, so the metallic body remains conductive. The fixed 1 1/2 in length from box to connector end keeps the profile compact inside tight junction boxes.

Interface and Installation Limits

The 3/4 in MNPT thread defines the only mounting interface; no adapters or reducers are included. Cord diameter must stay within the .26 in to .78 in range for the gland to seal properly. The connector handles one cord only, so multiple cables require separate fittings. Total assembled length is 2.200 in, limiting space for wire bending behind the box.

Questions about this item

Does the aluminum body of the UFC0003 cord connector heat up when carrying continuous current?

The connector is a passive aluminum fitting with no active components, so it does not generate heat during normal operation.

What cable diameter must I already have for the 3/4 in MNPT connector to seal properly?

The gland accepts a cord diameter range of 0.26 in to 0.78 in for a liquid-tight seal.

Will the straight 1 1/2 in body length fit alongside older conduit entries in a crowded junction box?

The straight body measures 1 1/2 in from the box connection to the end of the connector, allowing you to check clearance against existing fittings.
