Watertight Mechanical Interlock for 60 A Service

The Hubbell HBL560MI9W is a pin-and-sleeve mechanical interlock rated for 60 amps at 120/208 VAC three-phase with a 15 hp motor-load rating. It combines a disconnect switch and receptacle in a single non-metallic housing that meets IP67, NEMA 4X and NEMA 12 requirements for indoor or outdoor wet locations. The interlock prevents the switch from energising until the plug is fully seated and blocks plug removal while the switch is on. A lockable handle supports OSHA lockout/tagout procedures for maintenance safety.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw in Normal Use

The device carries up to 60 A at 600 V AC maximum with pressure-terminal screws that accept #8 to #2 AWG conductors for secure, low-resistance connections. Its thermoplastic enclosure resists corrosion, impact and UV exposure without metallic heat sinks or moving air, so it adds no audible noise to the installation. Power dissipation is limited to the contact resistance of the mated pins and sleeves under load, and the watertight seals maintain ingress protection across the operating temperature range.

Integration Into a Build

The interlock mounts on a flat surface and accepts compatible pin-and-sleeve plugs such as the 5Z920 to complete a 4-pole, 5-wire circuit. It requires no separate fuse holder or external operating mechanism, freeing panel space and reducing component count. The lockout-ready handle and mechanical interlock satisfy safety procedures without additional hardware, while the IP67-rated housing eliminates the need for a separate weatherproof enclosure in wash-down or outdoor environments.
