Gaming Desktop with Core Ultra 9 285K

This gaming desktop combines an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card. It ships with 32GB of DDR5 6400 memory configured as 16 GB x 2 across two slots. A 4TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVMe solid state drive provides the primary storage. The system includes a GIGABYTE Z890 AORUS Elite WIFI7 motherboard and runs Windows 11 Home out of the box.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The unit is powered by a 1000W 80+ Gold certified power supply delivering efficient energy conversion. Realtek ALC897 audio supports 7.1 channels for surround sound output. The LGA 1851 platform uses an ATX motherboard form factor. No optical drive is fitted, reducing internal cable clutter and potential airflow obstruction inside the chassis.

Sustained Load Behaviour

The 24-core processor operates at up to 5.5 GHz for demanding workloads while maintaining a 4.6 GHz base frequency. Graphics connect through a PCI Express x16 interface for full bandwidth utilisation. Memory capacity can be expanded to a maximum of 192 GB across the two available slots. The platform supports DDR5 technology and WIFI7 connectivity for modern peripheral and network requirements.

Questions about this item

How is the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K installed, and what step is often missed?

The CPU drops into the LGA 1851 socket on the GIGABYTE Z890 AORUS Elite WIFI7 motherboard; the step people miss is seating the retention lever fully before applying thermal paste and mounting the cooler.

What maintenance or replacement will the 1000W 80+ Gold power supply need later?

Dust the intake filter every few months; electrolytic capacitors inside the PSU typically last 7–10 years before a full unit swap is sensible.

What limit appears first on the RTX 5080 during sustained 4K loads?

The GPU hits its factory power target and thermal ceiling, causing clock speeds to settle below the 5.5 GHz boost figure.
