Enterprise 15K SAS drive

This IBM System Storage drive delivers 300GB capacity at 15000RPM over a 3.5" SAS 6Gb/s interface. It ships new with the original IBM system caddy and tray included. The 3.5-inch form factor fits standard enterprise bays and server chassis.

Suited for high-IOPS workloads

The 15K spindle speed targets transaction-heavy databases, mail servers and latency-sensitive arrays where sustained random performance matters. Buyers needing more than 300GB per spindle or requiring a different interface protocol should evaluate other options.

15000RPM rotational speed

This single specification determines whether the drive meets the response-time targets of the intended application. Verify that the host controller and backplane support the 6Gb/s SAS link before deployment.

Questions about this item

What 3.5" SAS drive tray is included with the 0B24482 for mounting in a system bay?

The drive ships with an IBM System Caddy/Tray that matches the 3.5" form factor and SAS connector, so it slides directly into a compatible hot-swap bay without extra brackets.

Which way does the SAS connector face when the HUS156030VLS600 is seated in its caddy?

The SAS data and power connector is on the rear edge of the 3.5" frame; push the caddy straight into the backplane until the latch clicks — forcing it at an angle bends pins.

How often should the 15000RPM mechanism be checked for bearing wear?

Enterprise 15K drives are rated for continuous operation; monitor SMART reallocated-sector counts and replace the unit if the counter rises or unusual vibration appears.
