600 GB 15K SAS drive for servers

This 3.5 inch IBM 49Y1870 drive delivers 600 GB of storage on a 6 Gb/s SAS interface. It spins at 15 000 rpm for fast transactional workloads. The unit suits enterprise arrays and database tiers that demand consistent throughput. It arrives in retail or OEM packaging depending on stock.

Thermals and power in normal use

The 15K spindle speed produces measurable heat under sustained load, so adequate chassis airflow is required. Acoustic output is typical for high-speed SAS mechanics and audible in quiet environments. Power draw rises during heavy random I/O but remains within standard 3.5 inch SAS limits. No special cooling beyond normal server ventilation is mandated.
