  • 6Gbps SAS interface enables fast host transfers
  • 5-inch SFF form factor fits dense server bays
  • Includes SYSTEM X caddy for direct installation

1.2 TB 10000 RPM SAS drive

This 1.2 TB internal hard drive spins at 10000 RPM and connects through a 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s interface. It is built for IBM System x servers and ships with a G2HS SFF caddy tray for direct bay insertion. The unit is supplied new and carries a one-year manufacturer warranty.

Suits high-IOPS server workloads

Database logs, virtualisation hosts and transaction-heavy applications benefit from the 10000 RPM spindle and SAS connectivity. Environments that require larger bulk capacity, solid-state latency or a different drive form factor should evaluate other storage options.

10000 RPM spindle speed

The 10000 RPM rotational speed is the specification that determines whether this drive meets the performance envelope for the intended server role. Confirm the host backplane supports 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s before installation.

Questions about this item

Does the HUC101212CSS600 come with a mounting tray or do I need to buy one separately?

The drive includes a SYSTEM X caddy/tray so no separate bracket is required for compatible bays.

Which part numbers match the 1.2TB 10000RPM SAS drive for my System x server?

IBM lists 00AD075, 00AD076 and 00AD079 as the matching FRUs for this 1.2TB 10000RPM 6Gb/s SAS model.

What does the 6Gb/s SAS link mean for actual throughput in a RAID array?

The 6Gb/s SAS interface caps each drive at roughly 600MB/s, so sustained RAID performance will be limited by that link speed.
