IBM 2 TB SAS drive for servers

This IBM HUS723020ALS640 is a new 2000 GB internal hard drive with a 3.5 inch SAS 6 Gbps interface spinning at 7200 RPM. It ships with a system caddy tray for direct installation into compatible bays.

Suited for SAS arrays and capacity tiers

The drive fits administrators expanding or repairing 6 Gbps SAS storage pools that accept 3.5 inch 7200 RPM units. Builders who need a different interface or a smaller form factor should look elsewhere.

6 Gbps SAS interface decides compatibility

The single specification that determines fit is the 3.5 inch SAS 6 Gbps connection; the host backplane or controller must provide that exact interface for the drive to operate.

Questions about this item

How much power and heat does the 7200 RPM SAS drive produce when it runs continuously?

The 7200 RPM mechanism draws typical enterprise 3.5" power levels and emits corresponding heat; ensure your chassis airflow handles sustained operation.

What controller or backplane must I already have to connect the 6 Gbps SAS interface?

You need a SAS host bus adapter, RAID card or server backplane that supports 6 Gbps SAS links and 3.5" drive bays.

Will the included caddy fit the drive trays in my older 3.5" SAS server?

The supplied system caddy matches standard 3.5" SAS trays used in compatible IBM System platforms; verify your tray dimensions before installing.
