Plug-and-play mechanical keyboard for gamers

The iBUYPOWER MEK 4 is a full-size mechanical keyboard that connects instantly without driver installation. It targets players who want a responsive typing experience straight out of the box. Brown mechanical switches provide a tactile bump without an audible click. This design suits both gaming sessions and daily typing tasks.

Brown switches and media keys under sustained use

Brown switches maintain consistent actuation force during long matches or extended work periods. The tactile feedback helps reduce accidental presses when keys are held down. Dedicated media controls allow volume and playback adjustments without leaving the active window. Customisable RGB lighting is managed through HYTE Nexus software for persistent profiles.

Compatibility checklist before ordering

Verify that your system has an available USB port for the wired connection. Confirm that your operating system supports standard HID keyboard input for plug-and-play operation. Ensure you have permission to install HYTE Nexus software if you plan to customise RGB lighting effects. The keyboard requires no additional power adapters or proprietary connectors.

Questions about this item

Does the MEK 4 stay cool and quiet when I leave it plugged in all day?

The keyboard draws power only over USB and has no active cooling, so it produces no audible fan noise and negligible heat during continuous use.

What do I need to have already for the media keys and RGB lighting to work?

A free USB port on a Windows PC is required; the HYTE Nexus software for lighting customisation runs on Windows and no separate driver or power adapter is needed.

Will the brown mechanical switches feel familiar if I am upgrading from an older Cherry MX Brown board?

Yes — the MEK 4 uses standard brown tactile switches with the same actuation force and travel, so the typing feel matches legacy MX Brown keyboards.
