Mobile Rack Drive Tray

The ICY DOCK ExpressCage MB741SP-B tray fits a single 2.5 SAS or SATA drive into a standard 3.5 external bay. It is designed for server administrators who need hot-swap capability without reconfiguring the chassis.

Passive thermal operation

The tray uses the host bay airflow to cool the installed drive. No fan or active cooling is included, so power draw and noise remain at the drive's own level. Thermal performance depends entirely on the server's internal cooling design.

Hot-swap convenience

The accessory enables tool-less drive insertion and removal while the system runs. It adds no software layer or controller function, leaving drive management to the host SAS or SATA interface.

Questions about this item

How do I install the MB741TP-B tray into the ExpressCage MB741SP-B rack?

Slide the tray into the external 3.5 bay until the latch clicks, securing the 2.5 SAS or SATA drive inside the rack.

What maintenance will the tray need over time?

Periodically check the latch mechanism and guide rails for dust or wear to ensure smooth insertion and removal.

What limit appears first when the tray is used continuously?

The mechanical latch and rail tolerance determine how many insert cycles the tray withstands before alignment degrades.
