The ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB924IP-B fits twenty-four 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives up to 7 mm tall into three standard external 5.25-inch bays. Six Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 ports and six 15-pin SATA power connectors handle all data and power cabling. An 80 mm fan with three-speed control provides active cooling for the dense array. Each drive mounts on a removable EZ-Slide Nano tray secured by an eagle-hook latch for vibration-resistant retention.

Suited for high-density storage servers

Workstations, home servers and data-centre builds that need many hot-swappable SAS or SATA drives in minimal bay space will benefit. The tray design allows drive changes in seconds without opening the chassis or powering down. Systems limited to fewer than three 5.25-inch bays or requiring drive heights above 7 mm cannot accommodate this enclosure. Builds that need interfaces other than SAS or SATA must choose a different solution.

Six Mini-SAS HD connectors for twenty-four drives

Six SFF-8643 ports each carry four lanes, delivering up to 12 Gb/s per SAS drive and 6 Gb/s per SATA drive. This cabling density is the single specification that determines whether the enclosure matches the host controller and backplane layout. Verify the controller provides six Mini-SAS HD ports before purchasing.
