Two-Bay 2.5" SAS/SATA Backplane with Slim ODD Tray

The ToughArmor MB994IPO-3SB installs into a single external 5.25" bay and holds two 2.5" SAS or SATA drives plus one slim optical disk drive. Its full-metal chassis is built for continuous operation in medical, military and industrial PCs.

Supports SAS 12Gbps and SATA 6Gbps Dual Channel

The backplane accepts drives from 5 mm up to 15 mm thick and delivers dual-channel SAS 12Gbps or SATA 6Gbps throughput. Two 4-pin power connectors supply stable power to every installed device without extra adapters.

Slim ODD Tray Adds Optical Media Access

The integrated tray lets you read or write CDs and DVDs while the two drive bays handle high-speed storage. This combination removes the need for a separate optical drive bay in space-constrained rack systems.

Questions about this item

What does the dual-channel SAS 12Gbps support mean for drive performance in a live server?

Each of the two bays can run at the full 12Gbps SAS rate simultaneously, so two enterprise SSDs or HDDs deliver their rated throughput without sharing a single lane.

How does the SATA 6Gbps limit affect the drives I can install?

SATA drives are capped at 6Gbps per bay, while SAS drives can use the 12Gbps path; both interfaces are electrically compatible with the same backplane connectors.

What drive heights and bay size does the cage accept for mounting?

It fits two 2.5" drives from 5mm up to 15mm thick plus one slim optical drive, all mounting into a single external 5.25" front bay.
