Ratchet crimper handles insulated and non-insulated terminals from 22 to 10 AWG with controlled-cycle action
The Ideal 83-001 is a controlled-cycle ratchet crimper built for insulated and non-insulated connectors across a 22 to 10 AWG range. It suits technicians and installers who need repeatable crimps on terminals without an integrated cutter or stripper.
The ratchet only releases after the full cycle completes, preventing partial crimps on 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 AWG wires. It cannot crimp wires larger than 10 AWG or smaller than 24 AWG, and it does not cut or strip conductors.
The 5 1/2 in tool fits in a pouch and operates with one hand once the terminal is seated. Common mistakes include loading the wrong connector style for the jaw profile and forcing the handles before the ratchet engages fully.

The tool crimps insulated and non-insulated terminals from 22 AWG up to 10 AWG, covering the full listed range of 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12 and 10 AWG.
The ratchet mechanism forces a complete crimp cycle before release, so every terminal receives the same compression without relying on hand pressure alone.
The 5 1/2 in frame accepts the insulated and uninsulated terminals listed for 22 to 10 AWG; larger connectors outside that range will not fit.
