Wire Cap Connector, 10 AWG Maximum

The IDEAL 30-092 is a twist-on wire connector designed for joining copper conductors in electrical installations. Rated for 600 V and a maximum operating temperature of 221 degrees F, it accepts wire combinations from two 14 AWG up to four 12 AWG conductors. The polypropylene shell carries a UL 94 V-2 flammability rating and the connector is both UL Listed and CSA Certified.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Under continuous operation the steel contacts with zinc finish maintain a secure connection up to the rated 600 V and 221 degrees F limit. The wing-style design provides mechanical leverage so the joint resists loosening from vibration or thermal cycling. The V-2 rated polypropylene insulation retains its shape and dielectric strength at the maximum temperature without melting or degrading.

Installation and Common Issues

Strip each copper conductor to the recommended length, align the wires, and twist the green winged cap clockwise until the joint feels firm with no exposed copper. The most frequent error is exceeding the maximum combination of four 12 AWG or five total conductors, which prevents the internal spring from gripping properly and can lead to a high-resistance connection. Ensure the cap is fully seated so the insulation completely covers the stripped portion.
