Photographic paper developer concentrate
Ilford Multigrade Paper Developer is a liquid concentrate formulated for black-and-white darkroom printing. It suits both resin-coated and fibre-based enlarging papers and is intended for photographers who process their own prints. The 5 litre bottle provides enough concentrate for many printing sessions.
Dilution and development times
Recommended dilution is 1 part developer with 9 parts water. With MULTIGRADE IV RC DELUXE and MULTIGRADE III RC RAPID papers the image appears after 10 seconds and development completes in 1 minute at 20 degrees C. For MULTIGRADE FB papers the image appears after 35 seconds with a development range of 1 to 3 minutes at the same temperature, extendable to 6 minutes without contrast change.
Mixing and shelf life
As a liquid concentrate it mixes quickly by measuring the required amount and adding water. Only prepare the volume needed for each session to keep the working solution fresh. Unopened bottles keep for approximately 24 months; once opened and half-full the usable life is about 6 months when capped tightly.
