15-Inch Green CCFL Light Kit

This iMBAPrice kit adds a 15-inch sound-activated cold-cathode fluorescent tube in green to a PC build. It is aimed at enthusiasts who want reactive interior lighting that pulses with music or system sounds. The single-piece design simplifies installation inside a case or chassis.

Upgrade From Static LED Strips

Unlike fixed-colour LED strips, this CCFL tube responds to audio input so the glow changes with the soundtrack or game effects. The jump is worth it when you want dynamic, music-synced illumination without programming a controller or adding addressable RGB headers.

Limits Of CCFL And Sound Activation

Cold-cathode tubes require a high-voltage inverter that adds a small power brick and wiring compared with low-voltage LED alternatives. The sound-activated circuit reacts to ambient volume rather than a direct signal feed, so very quiet environments may not trigger the effect reliably.

Questions about this item

What size laptop does the 15 inch CCFL kit fit?

The kit is designed for 15 inch laptop displays and includes an inverter sized for that panel.

How is the sound activated inverter connected inside the laptop?

The inverter plugs into the CCFL tube and draws power from a USB or spare 5 volt header; the sound sensor must face outward so it can react to audio.

When will the CCFL tube need replacing and what is the rated life?

The tube carries a 30k hour lifetime rating; expect gradual dimming after extended use and replace the tube when brightness no longer meets your needs.
