This INEO docking station connects an M.2 NVMe or NGFF SATA SSD of the 2280 form factor to a host computer via USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 at up to 20 Gbps. It accepts both M-key PCIe and B+M-key SATA modules. The unit is aimed at users who need fast external access to a single internal drive without installing it inside a chassis.

Thermal case with fan for sustained transfers

A bundled thermal enclosure integrates a cooling fan that runs while the drive is active. The fan helps keep temperatures down during long sequential reads or writes at the full 20 Gbps rate. The case also protects the bare PCB from physical contact and dust while the SSD is mounted outside a computer. Buyers who need completely silent operation or who use drives that throttle only above temperatures this fan cannot reach will not benefit from the active cooling.

USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20 Gbps host requirement

The dock delivers its rated 20 Gbps only when the host port is a genuine USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 or USB 4.0 connection. On a Mac Thunderbolt port the link is limited to 10 Gbps, so the drive will run at half the potential throughput. The SSD must also be formatted to a file system the host OS understands before data can be read or written.
