- Product typeThermal Imager
- Turns your iPhone into a thermal camera with 384×288 IR resolution
- Detects heat sources up to 870 m away for night observation
- 50 Hz frame rate delivers smooth imaging of fast-moving targets
- IP65-rated metal body withstands heavy rain during outdoor use
- High 0.04 °C sensitivity reveals subtle temperature differences
Smartphone Thermal Camera
The Xinfrared XH09 attaches to an iPhone 8 or newer running iOS 13 or above, turning the handset into a thermal imager and night vision monocular. It also works with Android 6.0 and later devices when the correct model is chosen. The all-metal housing carries an IP65 rating for resistance to heavy rain.
Sustained Imaging Performance
A 50 Hz frame rate keeps motion smooth during extended scanning sessions, avoiding the stutter common at lower refresh rates. The X³ algorithm upscales the native 256×192 sensor to a 384×288 output, while 0.04 °C sensitivity maintains detail as the scene temperature stabilises. Digital zoom from 2× to 15× lets you narrow the field without losing clarity.
Detection Range and Interface Limits
The imager detects human-sized heat sources out to 870 m, though recognition distance shrinks with smaller targets or adverse weather. Operation depends entirely on the phone’s Lightning or USB-C port and battery, so runtime is limited by the handset rather than the camera itself. Over 50 environmental parameters are available, but only through the companion app on a compatible OS version.

Questions about this item
Does the 50 Hz frame rate cause the phone to heat up during long sessions?
The imager draws power from the iPhone through the Lightning port; typical use warms the handset slightly but the 50 Hz output itself does not add measurable load.
Which iPhone models and iOS versions are required for the XH09 to operate?
Compatible with iPhone 8 or newer running iOS 13 or later; the Lightning connector on the imager plugs directly into the phone.
Can I use the 2–15× digital zoom alongside an older clip-on macro lens I already own?
The XH09 mounts directly on the Lightning port, so any additional lens would need its own separate mount and cannot stack on the imager.
