The Ingersoll/Rand BLD2 is a spring-retractable tool balancer designed to suspend hand tools weighing between 2.2 and 4.4 lb. A 5.2 ft stainless-steel cable pays out from an aluminium housing mounted via a suspension shackle. The fixed reel has no locking mechanism and uses a spring clip for tool attachment.

Assembly lines and workstations where the same lightweight tool is picked up and set down repeatedly benefit from the constant tension and reduced operator fatigue. The non-locking reel and absence of shock absorption make it unsuitable for applications that require the tool to stay fixed at a set height or that involve sudden load spikes beyond 4.4 lb.

Mounts overhead and frees bench space

The shackle attaches to an overhead beam, trolley or dedicated balancer rail, letting the 10 1/4 in tall housing hang clear of the work surface. With the tool suspended, the bench stays uncluttered and the operator can reach the tool without bending or searching. No external power or pneumatic supply is needed.
