Switching USB 3.0 devices between two hosts

The Inogeni TOGGLE is a USB 3.0 switcher that connects three USB devices to two host computers. It is built for meeting rooms or shared workstations where visitors plug in a laptop and instantly access the room's cameras, microphones or storage. The rugged metal enclosure and included 12 V power supply keep the unit stable on a desk or in a rack.

Three device ports shared across two computers

The single specification that decides fit is the three USB 3.0 device ports that toggle between two USB 3.0 hosts. Backward compatibility with USB 2.0 means older peripherals work without adapters. The 12 V external supply powers the switch and delivers bus power to the attached devices so they operate without separate adapters.

Fanless metal chassis runs silent

The full-metal enclosure acts as a heatsink, so the switch operates with no fan and no audible noise. Power draw is limited to the 12 V supply rating, and the unit only consumes what the connected devices require. Automatic, manual or RS-232 and GPI remote switching changes the active host without interrupting power to the peripherals.

Questions about this item

What happens when I plug my laptop into the second host port while a room PC is already connected?

The switcher detects the new host and automatically routes the three USB 3.0 device ports to your laptop, then reverts to the room PC when you unplug.

Does the USB 3.0 interface limit the bandwidth available to each of the three device ports?

All three ports share the single 5 Gbps USB 3.0 link to the active host, so total throughput is capped at that rate.

What mounting options does the full-metal enclosure provide for a permanent install?

The rugged metal chassis includes integrated mounting ears for rack or surface attachment in a fixed AV setup.
