Wi-Fi and Bluetooth mini card

This Intel 2230BNHMW adapter provides 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless connectivity and Bluetooth in a Mini PCI-E half-height form factor. It is designed for laptops that have a compatible half-size slot available. The card is supplied new without antennas or mounting brackets. It carries the HP Compaq part number 670290-001 for reference.

Suitable for compatible laptops only

This adapter fits most laptops with a Mini PCI-E half-size slot, but it is not compatible with IBM Lenovo or HP Compaq systems due to BIOS whitelist restrictions. Buyers who own those brands should look for a different wireless solution. It suits repair technicians or owners of whitelisted systems needing a direct replacement part. The single card includes no cables or extra hardware.

Mini PCI-E half-height interface

The decisive specification is the Mini PCI-E half-height interface, which determines whether the card will physically install and function in the target machine. Verify that the laptop accepts half-size cards and does not enforce a vendor whitelist before purchasing. The 802.11 a/b/g/n standard delivers basic wireless-N performance on supported networks. No other interface or form factor is supported by this part.

The single-stream 802.11n radio caps sustained speed well before the Mini PCI-E bus saturates.

How much heat and power does the adapter add when the laptop runs all day?

Typical draw is a few watts; the half-height card stays cool inside the chassis without extra airflow.
