Ready-to-assemble NUC kit

The Intel BOXNUC5I7RYH is a barebone mini PC built around a 5th Generation Core i7-5557U processor with Iris Graphics 6100. It ships without memory or storage, so system integrators and hobbyists choose their own DDR3L SODIMMs and a 2.5 inch SATA drive. The compact black chassis includes a 65 W multi-country power adapter.

Dual-channel DDR3L-1600 memory support

Two 204-pin SO-DIMM slots accept up to 16 GB of DDR3L at 1600 or 1333 MT/s in dual-channel mode. This memory ceiling and speed are the decisive figures for matching the processor's integrated graphics performance. No memory modules are included in the box.

Single 2.5 inch SATA bay and wired plus wireless LAN

One internal SATA 6.0 Gb/s connector fits a 2.5 inch drive up to 9.50 mm thick, while Gigabit Ethernet and soldered-down Wireless-AC 7265 with Bluetooth 4 handle networking. Front-panel USB 3.0 ports, one charging-capable, and a consumer infrared sensor leave the rear USB 3.0 and internal USB 2.0 headers free for expansion.

Questions about this item

What real-world speed does the 3.4 GHz turbo on the Core i7-5557U reach inside this NUC?

The processor can boost up to 3.4 GHz on one or both cores when thermals allow, sustained by the 28 W TDP and the included 65 W adapter.

What does the SATA 6.0 Gb/s port limit for a 2.5" drive?

The SATA 6.0 Gb/s interface caps sequential throughput at roughly 600 MB/s, so any 2.5" SATA SSD up to 9.50 mm thick will hit that ceiling.

How much DDR3L memory can the two 204-pin SO-DIMM slots hold?

Two slots support dual-channel DDR3L at 1600 or 1333 MT/s for a total of 16 GB.
