Hot-swappable 40GbE QSFP+ SR module with MPO connector for multi-mode fibre links
The Intel E40GQSFPSR is a hot-swappable QSFP+ transceiver designed for 40 Gigabit Ethernet links over multi-mode fibre. It targets data-centre operators and network engineers who need short-range optical connectivity inside a rack or across adjacent racks.
The module presents a single MPO receptacle for a 40GBase-SR4 parallel optic cable. It is qualified for use with Intel Ethernet Converged Network Adapters X520-QDA1, XL710-QDA1 and XL710-QDA2, freeing a PCIe slot that would otherwise require a fixed-port card.
Rated for 40 Gb/s, the optics suit typical intra-data-centre distances supported by the SR4 standard. The link will not reach campus or metro spans that demand single-mode optics or longer-wavelength transceivers.

The module supports 40GBase-SR4 over multi-mode fiber, with reach defined by the SR4 standard for the fiber grade you install.
Power consumption and heat are determined by the host switch; the hot-swappable QSFP+ form factor draws power directly from the cage.
Compatible adapters are the X520-QDA1, XL710-QDA1 and XL710-QDA2; the module plugs into their QSFP+ cages.
