Dual-core processor running at 2.8 GHz with 800 MHz front-side bus for LGA775 sockets
This Intel Pentium D processor runs at 2.8 GHz with a 2 MB L2 cache and an 800 MHz front-side bus. It fits the LGA775 socket and is supplied as a new processor only. The unit weighs 5.1 units according to the manufacturer data. It suits builders maintaining or repairing legacy LGA775 platforms.
This processor replaces a failed or slower LGA775 Pentium D in existing motherboards. The upgrade is worthwhile when the board supports the 800 MHz bus and the 2 MB cache meets the workload. It does not serve builders who need a dual-core chip with a higher bus speed or a larger cache. It also does not fit sockets other than LGA775.

The processor fits the LGA775 socket; the motherboard must provide the matching 775-pin grid and mounting holes for the retention bracket.
Users often lower the retention lever before the notches on the package fully engage the socket keys, leaving the chip slightly tilted and causing bent pins.
