Low-profile PCIe 2.0 bypass adapter with two fixed LC 10GBASE-LR ports for single-mode fibre up to 10 km
The Intel X520-LR2 is a low-profile network interface card built around the Intel 82599 controller. It provides two LC ports for 10GBASE-LR singlemode fibre connections. The card targets server and appliance builders who need inline bypass functionality for high-availability network paths.
The adapter connects through a PCI Express 2.0 slot operating at 5.0 GT/s. This interface caps the theoretical throughput below what the dual 10 Gbit/s ports can collectively saturate. Singlemode fibre runs up to 5 km in bypass mode and up to 10 km in normal mode.
The low-profile bracket allows installation in slim chassis where full-height cards cannot sit. Optics are not removable, so the transceivers cannot be swapped or upgraded independently. Bypass mode preserves the link during power loss or system failure, but requires compatible software support to activate.

This model is low-profile only; a full-height bracket is not included.
PCIe 2.0 at 5.0 GT/s gives each lane about 4 Gb/s usable bandwidth; an x8 link supplies enough headroom for both 10G ports at line rate.
The x8 slot provides sufficient bandwidth so the PCIe 2.0 interface does not cap the two 10GBASE-LR ports.
