A single-port 10GbE PCIe 2.0 x8 adapter with RJ-45 copper connectivity for servers and workstations
The Intel X540-T1 is a single-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter built for servers and workstations. It fits a PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot and works with Windows, Linux and virtualization platforms. The card provides copper connectivity without requiring fiber infrastructure.
The decisive specification is the one RJ-45 port running at 10 Gbps over CAT 6a or CAT 7 cable up to 100 metres. It also negotiates down to 1000, 100 or 10 Mbps for mixed environments. Buyers who need more than one 10GbE connection from a single slot cannot use this card.
Intel Low Power Idle technology reduces draw when the link is quiet. Hardware offloads for iSCSI, FCoE and TCP/IP checksums move work off the host CPU. Jumbo frames up to 9.5 KB and SR-IOV support keep latency low in virtualized workloads.

The card provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet throughput over copper, quadrupling standard Gigabit bandwidth for virtualization and data-center workloads.
The PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot supplies enough bandwidth for the single 10 GbE port, so the interface does not cap the adapter's rated throughput.
It requires a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot and ships with a full-height bracket for standard server or workstation chassis.
