10 Gbps Throughput and Headroom

Each port negotiates 10, 100, 1000 or 10 000 Mbps under the 802.3an standard, so mixed-speed networks are handled automatically. Bandwidth saturates at 10 Gbps per port; workloads that exceed that aggregate — such as multi-stream 4K storage replication or dense virtualisation clusters — will hit the port ceiling and require link aggregation or faster interfaces.

PCIe Interface and Driver Limits

The adapter connects via a PCIe interface and relies on the Intel ixgbe driver stack for Windows 7 through 11, Windows Server 2008 through 2022, Linux and VMware ESXi.
