A 10 gigabit Ethernet adapter with two SFP+ ports on a PCI Express 3.0 x8 interface
The Intel X710DA2 is a dual-port 10GBase-X network card built on the Intel X710 controller. It installs in a PCI Express 3.0 x8 slot and presents two SFP+ cages for twinaxial or optical modules. The adapter targets data-centre workloads that need converged LAN and SAN traffic on a single fabric.
Moving from a single 10G port or a 1 Gb NIC doubles immediate bandwidth and adds link redundancy without changing cabling. The jump is worth it when virtualisation hosts or storage clusters saturate existing links and the quad-port 80 Gb/s ceiling of the X710 family is not yet required.
The card occupies one x8 slot and leaves remaining lanes for storage controllers or additional NICs. Two SFP+ cages let you choose direct-attach copper for short runs or fibre for longer distances, keeping rack cabling flexible while the host handles up to 40 Gb/s per direction.

Yes, the host interface is PCI Express 3.0 x8, so the motherboard must provide an x8 electrical connection.
Insert each SFP+ transceiver until it clicks, then lock the bail latch before connecting any twinaxial cables.
Replace them if link errors appear, cables show physical damage, or a speed upgrade requires different media.
