Four-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter with SFP+ connectors on a PCI Express 3.0 x8 interface
The Intel X722DA4FH is a quad-port SFP+ network card that connects over a PCI Express 3.0 x8 slot. It delivers an aggregate 40Gbps of Ethernet throughput and uses Intel Ethernet 700 Series silicon with iWARP RDMA to reduce CPU load during high-volume data movement.
This card fits servers that run Software Defined Storage, NVMe over Fabric or frequent virtual machine migrations where RDMA offload cuts latency. It is not for desktop workstations that lack a full-height PCIe 3.0 x8 slot, nor for appliances that require RoCE or InfiniBand transport instead of iWARP.
The adapter needs a free PCIe 3.0 x8 lane to operate at its rated 40Gbps across four SFP+ ports. A narrower or older slot will limit total bandwidth and may prevent the card from initialising.

Yes, each of the four SFP+ cages requires a compatible transceiver module and fibre or direct-attach cable rated for the link speed.
A PCIe 3.0 x8 slot provides enough bandwidth for the adapter’s combined 40 Gbps capacity, so the card can run at line rate in that slot.
Use the Intel Ethernet adapter utility or ethtool to verify that RDMA capabilities are reported and that the iWARP state shows active on each port.
