  • 6 GT/s QPI speed links sockets fast

14-core Xeon for dense server builds

This 14-core Xeon processor runs at 2.0 GHz with 35 MB of L3 cache and a 120 W thermal design power. It fits the FCLGA2011-3 socket and uses a 22 nm manufacturing process. The module is aimed at administrators expanding compute density in compatible rack or blade systems.

Thermals and power in typical workloads

At its 120 W rating the chip delivers sustained multi-threaded throughput while relying on the host platform’s cooling solution. The 9.6 GT/s QPI links move data between sockets without adding significant heat. Buyers who need lower power envelopes or higher single-thread frequencies should evaluate other options.

Questions about this item

How do I install this Xeon processor into the FCLGA2011-3 socket without bending pins?

Align the notches on the processor with the socket keys, lower it gently without force, then secure the retention lever; the 22 nm die is fragile so never press the centre.

What cooling maintenance does the 120 W Xeon need over time?

Clean dust from the heatsink fins and fan every few months; if temperatures rise, remove old thermal paste and apply a fresh thin layer before reseating the cooler.
