The 10 nm Ice Lake core supports DDR4-2666 across eight memory channels and provides 64 lanes of PCI Express 4.0 connectivity.

Upgrade from older Silver or Bronze SKUs

Moving to this processor adds two extra cores, higher turbo headroom and PCIe 4.0 lanes compared with previous-generation Silver models limited to PCIe 3.0. The eight-channel memory controller also doubles the theoretical bandwidth available to each socket. The jump is worthwhile when workloads need more parallel threads or faster I/O for storage and accelerators.
