24-hour electromechanical timer for industrial
The Intermatic T1976 is a 24-hour electromechanical timer designed for single-pole double-throw switching at 20 A across 208 to 277 V AC. It provides up to 48 on/off cycles per day with a minimum setting of 15 min and a maximum of 23-3/4 hr. A steel NEMA 1 enclosure and 96 included trippers suit commercial and industrial scheduling tasks.
Replaces basic time switches lacking day-skip
This timer upgrades simple on/off clocks by adding a Day Skipper function and multi-operation capability for more flexible daily programs. The jump is worth it when a process needs omitted days or multiple distinct switching events without manual intervention. It handles 1/2 hp at 120 V and 1 hp at 240 V motor loads directly.
Limited to 24-hour repeat cycles
The electromechanical dial repeats every 24 hours, so schedules longer than one day require external logic. The single SPDT pole controls only one circuit, and the NEMA 1 steel enclosure is rated for indoor use between -40 and +130 °F. No battery backup or digital programming is provided.

Questions about this item
Will the 5 in wide steel enclosure with NEMA 1 rating fit in my existing panel?
The timer measures 5 in wide, 3 in deep and 7 3/4 in high inside a steel NEMA 1 enclosure, so check those dimensions against your panel cut-out.
How do I install the T1976 on a 208-277 V AC circuit and what step is often missed?
Wire the SPDT contacts to the 20 A load, set the 15 min minimum and 23-3/4 hr maximum on the 24-hour dial, then install the 96 included trippers for each on/off event — forgetting the trippers is the common error.
When will I need extra trippers and which part number do I order?
The timer ships with 96 trippers supporting up to 48 on/off cycles per day; when those are lost or worn, order replacement trippers 2E132.
