USB A to USB C coiled cable for car use

This two-pack of IOGEAR A3193-01 cables connects a USB A port to USB C devices. Each blue coiled cable extends to six feet and supports 3 A fast charging. They are aimed at drivers who want a tidy CarPlay link or a compact charge-and-sync lead for phones and tablets.

USB 2.0 data rate and 15 W power ceiling

The cables transfer data at 480 Mbps, the speed of the USB 2.0 interface they use. Power delivery tops out at 5 V / 3 A for 15 W, so they cannot drive laptops or other gear that needs higher voltage or current profiles such as USB Power Delivery 3.0 or 3.1.

3 A maximum current decides suitability

The single spec that determines fit is the 3 A current rating. If your device and charger both support 3 A at 5 V, the cable will charge at its rated speed; if either side negotiates only 1 A or 2 A, charging will be slower and the cable will not increase it.

Questions about this item

One pack has two identical 6 ft coiled cables — do I need both or can I use just one?

Each cable works independently. Keep one in the car for CarPlay and the second at a desk or in a bag so a spare is always ready.

The listing says 3 A fast charging — what does that deliver on an iPhone 16 in everyday use?

The cable carries up to 3 A at 5 V, giving roughly 15 W. That charges an iPhone 16 noticeably faster than the old 5 W adapter, reaching about 40 % in half an hour.

The connector is USB-A to USB-C — what data speed does that link actually support?

The cable is rated for USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps, so photos, music and documents transfer at that speed while the device charges.
