Dual-mode Thunderbolt 3 dock

The IOGEAR GTD737 is a new Thunderbolt 3 docking station that adds nine ports to a compatible laptop through a single host connection. It accepts Mac OSX Sierra 10.12 or later and Windows 10 or later on Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C DP alt mode systems. A 135 W external power supply enables up to 60 W laptop charging.

Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C alt-mode users

Thunderbolt 3 laptops gain dual 4K 60 Hz DisplayPort output and 40 Gbps file-transfer bandwidth. USB-C alt-mode laptops are limited to single 4K 30 Hz or dual HD output and lose the 40 Gbps throughput. Buyers whose laptops lack Thunderbolt 3 or DP alt mode cannot use the video or high-speed data functions.

Nine-port expansion headroom

Two DisplayPort 1.2 connectors drive dual 4K 60 Hz monitors on Thunderbolt 3 or a single 4K 30 Hz monitor on alt-mode. Five USB ports — one 10 Gbps USB-A, two 5 Gbps USB-A and two 10 Gbps USB-C — plus Gigabit Ethernet and a 3.5 mm combo jack cover peripherals and networking. The 60 W charge limit means power-hungry workstations will need their own adapter.

Questions about this item

Does my laptop need a Thunderbolt 3 port or will USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode work?

The dock accepts Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) enabled computers or computers with USB-C DP alt mode support; Mac OSX Sierra 10.12 or later and Windows 10 or later are listed as compatible.

If I keep my older USB-A peripherals, will they still connect at their usual speeds?

The dock provides one USB-A 3.1 Gen 2 port at 10Gbps and two USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 ports, so legacy USB-A devices plug in and run at their native rates.

How can I confirm the dock is delivering 60W charging and dual 4K 60Hz output after I plug everything in?

With a Thunderbolt 3 laptop connected, the external 135W supply enables up to 60W Power Delivery and the two DisplayPort 1.2 outputs drive dual 4K at 60Hz; check your OS power and display settings to verify both are active.
