USB-C OTG adapter for phones and laptops
This IOGEAR adapter converts a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port into a USB 3.0 Type-A female socket. It lets iPhone 15 through 17 series, recent Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones, plus MacBook and iPad Pro models, read flash drives, keyboards, mice and other OTG peripherals. No driver installation is required. Video output is not supported.
Thermals noise and power in daily use
The adapter draws up to 5 V at 3 A from the host port while powering connected peripherals. Its plastic and aluminium housing passively dissipates the small amount of heat generated during 5 Gbps data transfers. No fan or active cooling is present, so operation stays silent.
Build quality and connector implications
A short integrated cable joins the USB-C male plug to the USB-A female receptacle, allowing two adapters to sit side by side on closely spaced ports. The moulded strain relief and metal shell protect the connectors during frequent plugging and transport. The compact form factor adds minimal bulk to a phone or laptop bag.

Questions about this item
How do I install the USB-C male connector into my iPhone 17 Pro Max without damaging the port?
Align the oval USB-C plug with the port on the iPhone 17 Pro Max and insert straight in; the reversible design prevents upside-down insertion, but forcing it at an angle can bend the internal pins.
What maintenance or replacement will the aluminium-cased adapter need over time?
The plastic-and-aluminium housing has no moving parts; keep the USB-A female socket free of dust with compressed air and replace the unit only if the connector feels loose or data drops below 5 Gbps.
What limit appears first when I run sustained 5 Gbps transfers through this OTG adapter?
The 5 V, 3 A power ceiling is reached before the 5 Gbps signal limit, so bus-powered external drives may disconnect during long copies if they draw more than 15 W.
