3U 12-Bay SATA Server Chassis

The iStarUSA DAGE312UTL-NAS is a 3U rackmount enclosure built for twelve 3.5-inch SATA drives. A trayless hot-swap design allows quick insertion and removal without tools. Steel construction and three 120 mm fans provide airflow across all bays. A single 500 W power supply delivers power to the backplane and system components.

NAS Builds Needing High-Density SATA Storage

This chassis suits administrators assembling a 12-bay NAS or JBOD using SATA I, II or III hard drives. Hardware RAID levels 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 30, 50 and 60 are supported by the backplane. Operators who require redundant power supplies or a 2.5-inch drive form factor should consider other enclosures.

Trayless Hot-Swap Bays for 3.5-Inch SATA Drives

Twelve front-accessible bays accept 3.5-inch SATA drives directly, eliminating separate caddies. The SATA I, II and III interface supports up to 6.0 Gb/s per drive. This trayless mechanism is the deciding factor for teams that prioritise rapid drive replacement in a 3U footprint.

Questions about this item

What parts of the iStarUSA DAGE312UTL-NAS will need maintenance or replacement over time?

The three 120 mm cooling fans and the single 500 W power supply are the main serviceable items; drive trays are trayless so only the drives themselves may need swapping.

Which limit appears first when all twelve 3.5" SATA bays run continuously?

The 500 W power supply sets the total power ceiling, so sustained heavy I/O across every bay will hit that limit before thermal or interface constraints.

How much noise and heat do the three 120 mm fans produce during all-day operation?

Three 120 mm fans move enough air for twelve drives in a 3U steel chassis; expect moderate rack-level noise and a noticeable but manageable exhaust temperature.
