Adjustable buck converter steps 4-38 V down to 1.25-36 V at up to 5 A with built-in LED voltmeter
This module steps down DC input between 4 V and 38 V to an adjustable 1.25 V to 36 V output. It suits makers powering 5 V USB gear or LED strips from a 12 V battery. The XL4015 IC handles up to 5 A peak or 3.5 A sustained, limited by a 75 W peak and 50 W continuous ceiling.
A three-digit display shows either input or output voltage at the press of a small button. This removes the need for a separate multimeter while dialling in the set-point with the onboard potentiometer. The meter draws negligible current and fits within the 66 mm by 39 mm board outline.
The converter only operates when the supply exceeds the desired output by at least 1.5 V. Reverse polarity on either terminal can damage the IC, so wiring must be checked before power is applied. Efficiency reaches 96 % at 180 kHz switching, yet the 18 mm profile still demands airflow when running near the 50 W sustained limit.

The XL4015 IC is a solid-state component with no moving parts and no scheduled replacement interval under normal use.
Sustained load is capped at 50 W or 3.5 A, whichever is reached first; exceeding this triggers thermal protection.
The 180 kHz switching frequency keeps ripple low and the unit runs silently; expect noticeable warmth at full sustained load but no fan noise.
