Input Voltage Headroom Requirement

The buck topology demands that the supply voltage exceeds the target output by a minimum of 1.5 volts, so a 5 volt output needs at least 6.5 volts at the input terminals. Reverse polarity on either the input or output side can damage the module. Maximum input is capped at 38 volts and maximum output at 37 volts, defining the practical operating window for any project.
