Product Identity

The Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co 4470 is a six-inch floor cleanout designed for plumbing professionals and facility managers. It provides a secure access point for drain maintenance in commercial and residential installations.

Critical Specification

This unit features a six-inch pipe diameter and a screw-in installation type. The round cast bronze body includes a plug and is intended for use with a cleanout drain, making the connection size the deciding factor for compatibility.

Durability and Operation

The cast bronze construction resists corrosion and withstands normal foot traffic without deformation. The screw-in plug creates a tight seal that prevents sewer gas escape and water leakage during routine system pressure.

Questions about this item

How does the 6 in diameter translate once the cleanout is set in the floor?

The 6 in overall diameter matches a 6 in pipe opening, giving a round cast bronze cover that sits flush with the finished floor surface.

What does the screw-in installation mean for the connection standard?

The cleanout threads directly into a matching 6 in cleanout drain, so the joint is sealed by the bronze plug without a separate flange or clamping ring.

What clearance and mounting depth does the 1 in overall height require?

Only 1 in of vertical space is needed below the floor surface, and the round cast bronze body fits into a standard 6 in cleanout drain opening.
