Questions about this item

Which locking ring version matches my Jupiter 478100 grinder?

The 885200 locking ring is the only version made for the Jupiter 478100 food grinder and fits every KitchenAid stand mixer when that grinder is attached.

What does the 885200 actually do once it is on the grinder?

It threads onto the grinder housing to clamp the plate and knife together, keeping them aligned and under the right pressure so meat or vegetables feed through smoothly.

How does the twist-on fitting limit what the ring can handle?

The simple screw thread means installation takes seconds by hand, but the ring is designed only for the Jupiter 478100 grinder and will not secure plates on any other model.
